Designed around the way you live.

An interior design studio in London. Designers, joiners and project managers working as one team, from the first conversation to the finished room.

Start a project

Sitting room with a wall-hung teak shelving system on black uprights against exposed brick, books and records above a run of teak cabinets.

Our approach

A tall wooden larder standing open, its door racks lined with jars and spices.

A good room does not begin with a trend. It begins with how the people in it actually live: how the day starts, what needs a home, what gets used every day and what is kept for best.

The walnut kitchen peninsula from the doorway, grain-matched and cantilevered clear of the floor, with the tiled sink run beyond.

Luxury, to us, is not excess. It is quality, comfort and longevity: a layout that works, materials that wear well, and details that still hold their value years later. We spend where it will be felt, and hold back where it would only be seen.

Pink fitted cabinetry with a figured ply shelf recess, over pale blue painted boards, with a Berber rug and a bamboo in a terracotta pot in front.

So no two projects look alike. A single room or a whole house, a period terrace or a 1970s estate house, soft neutrals or something braver, the palette is shaped to the building and to the people living in it.

Our studio

On site mid-renovation: a builder holding a sheet of board talks with two others in a sunlit period room, a mitre saw and tool case on the protected floor

K&L is an interior design studio with its own joinery workshop. Designers, joiners and project managers work as one team, so the people who make a cabinet can talk to the person who drew it, and the project manager on site knows why every detail is the way it is.

A joiner in the workshop planes the edge of a pine cabinet by hand, shavings curling from the plane, chisels racked on the wall behind

We started out as makers, and we still are: the workshop has been building fitted furniture and cabinetry for over a decade. Designing and delivering whole London homes grew out of that, which is why the studio thinks about how a thing will be made from the very first sketch.

Fabric and finish samples laid out together: ochre and rust velvets, olive bouclé, textured wovens and two metal handle discs

We are currently based at our sister company Joyn Kitchens’ showroom in Shoreditch, but will soon be moving to a beautiful new space of our own in Islington. Keep an eye out for more details coming soon.

We work across Greater London and beyond, so wherever your project is based, we’d love to hear from you.
